Cure for Kidney Stones
Welcome to Cure for Kidney Stones. A kidney stone is a solid crystal-like substance formed in the kidneys. Kidney stones originate from not enough fluids, too much animal protein, too much sodium, sometimes from refined sugars and also from too many cola drinks.
80% of those with kidney stones are men. Men most commonly experience their first episode between age 30–40 years of age. Women, on the other hand, tend to develop kidney stones a bit older.
Kidney stones typically leave the body through the urine stream. Very small stones pass through the urine without causing any symptoms. If stones grow to sufficient size, however, they can become obstructed – causing spasm of the ureter. This leads to pain, most commonly felt in the area between the ribs and the hip. The pain usually comes in waves lasting a few to 60 minutes. The diagnosis of kidney stones is made on the basis of prior family or personal history, physical examination, urinalysis, and sometimes ultrasound and blood tests.
When a stone causes no symptoms, watchful waiting is a valid option. For painful stones – the pain is most often controlled by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. More severe cases may require surgical intervention. For example, some stones can be shattered into smaller fragments using new laser/sonic tools.
For prevention measures, increasing fluid in order to increase urine output to more than 2 liters per day is a common remedy. Other prevention therapies are: attempt to maintain a calcium intake of 1000 – 1200 mg per day
- limiting sodium intake to less than 2300 mg per day
- limiting vitamin C intake to less than 1000 mg per day
- limiting animal protein intake to no more than 2 meals daily, with less than 6 – 8 ounces per day
